Aprelo Giving

"It is the most beautiful compensations of life that no man (or woman) can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every Aprelo purchase you make helps change the lives of women in need. We are passionate about inspiring and enabling a fulfilling life of wellbeing and happiness for every woman, both those in the developed world and those in the developing world. Aprelo is very focused on empowering women to rise above their circumstances to make significant change in their lives and the lives of others in their communities.

When you buy an Aprelo product or service you can feel happy knowing that you're supporting a good cause, with three percent of your total purchase being donated to your preferred cause – either Opportunity International to provide microfinance for women in the developing world, or The Butterfly Foundation to provide support for Australian women with eating disorders.

"I speak as a mum of a 16 year old girl, who having had 16 admissions to hospital and spent in total 52 weeks of a 3 year period in hospital, I can only thank the Butterfly Day Program for her survival. I have my daughter back…. Thanks to The Butterfly Foundation."

Kay Rimbaldo

The Butterfly Foundation is Australia's largest national organisation that provides direct support to Australians who suffer from eating disorders and negative body image.

Established in 2002 by Claire Vickery, the Foundation is dedicated to changing the culture, policy and practice in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and to raise awareness of eating disorders as a serious social, medical and mental health issue.

The Butterfly Foundation is an advocate for early intervention, effective services in the public health sector, national awareness campaigns and increased research, prevention and education programs in schools, a national helpline and support groups for sufferers, carers and family members. In addition, The Butterfly Foundation is the only organisation that provides funding for individuals for treatment and support. They are a major agent for positive change in the field of eating disorders and body image.

Opportunity International Australia is a non-profit organisation that uses a business approach to solve the problem of poverty.

Opportunity International's mission is to provide opportunities for people living in poverty to transform their lives, with a vision to see millions of people lifted out of poverty permanently. Through our partnership with Opportunity International Aprelo is helping alleviate poverty by giving poor women in developing countries including India and Asia access to small loans (microfinance), to help them work their way out of poverty with dignity.

The concept of microfinance was introduced by social entrepreneur Doctor Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank. The focus is on empowerment through collateral-free loans for social good with the expectation it will be re-paid, rather than making one-off charitable donations. When the loaned funds are re-paid by one person, they are re-loaned to another and another and another, meaning exponential social benefit can be derived from a single dollar.
